Noise Assessments

Walnut provides noise surveys and assessments for residential, industrial and commercial projects. We work with planning agents, architects, building service consultants and end clients providing professional measurement services and comprehensive and informative reports. We also offer advice on excessive noise mitigation and construction solutions including insulation and glazing specifications to reach the required standards. We undertake noise surveys and assessments in the following areas:

  • Residential/Office/Retail developments: BS8233:2014 / BS4142:2014
  • Commercial/Industrial developments: BS4142:2014
  • ProPG Stage 1 & 2, AVO, Acoustic Design Statements
  • School and Hospital projects: BB93 and HTM 08-01

Sound Testing

Walnut carry out airborne and impact sound insulation pre-completion tests to ensure compliance of party walls and floors with current building regulations. We work with architects, consultants, contractors and clients on single or multi-dwelling developments and offer mitigation advice and re-testing if required.

We work to the current regulations:

  • BS EN ISO 140 (1998) – Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and building elements. Part 4 – Field measurements of airborne sound insulation between rooms and Part 7 – Field measurements of impact sound insulation of floors
  • BS EN ISO 717 (2013) – Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. Part 1 – Airborne sound insulation and Part 2 – Impact sound insulation
  • Building Regulations Approved Document Part E 2010

Building and Architectural Acoustics

Walnut work with project design teams on acoustical and technical designs for educational, health, commercial and public buildings. We consult on noise levels and transmission compliance to the relevant standards, and help to deliver the right acoustical performance for different types and uses of space.

We also design, specify and install bespoke electro-acoustic and audio-visual solutions to work within these spaces, including public address and sound masking systems. Projects we cover:

Noise at Work

Walnut carry out site noise assessments using the latest noise measurement and dose monitoring technology to produce professional compliance reports on noise levels for any size of site or workplace.

Through measurement, interpretation and calculation we produce the necessary report documentation and advice to help clients comply with the latest Noise at Work regulations.
