Airborne and impact sound insulation testing for project completion
An existing client who had engaged us at the planning stages to provide noise assessments and insulation advice asked us to perform the pre-completion sound insulation test for this project.
The sound insulation tests were carried in accordance with the current standards:
- BS EN ISO 140 (1998) – Measurement of sound insulation in buildings and building elements. Part 4 – Field measurements of airborne sound insulation between rooms and Part 7 – Field measurements of impact sound insulation of floors.
- BS EN ISO 717 (2013) – Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements. Part 1 – Airborne sound insulation and Part 2 – Impact sound insulation
The results were then assessed in accordance with the Building Regulations Approved Document Part E 2010 ‘Resistance to the passage of sound’ in order to indicate compliance.
