Environmental impact assessment, noise levels, insulation and mitigation
We were recently asked to carry out a noise impact assessment for a new waste recycling development in the Midlands. The proposed development would separate and recycle household and commercial waste material on a large scale, whilst providing jobs for the surrounding community.
Noise monitoring was carried out at multiple points of noise sensitivity, and an effective building envelope designed to minimise impact on the surrounding dwellings, the nearest located only 30m from the main building.
The project involved close liaison with various parties including the council, planning agents, architects, waste recycling representatives and air quality and odour consultants, to overcome a variety of noise generation and insulation issues.
