BS4142 noise assessment, prediction of new levels, mitigation proposals
Nestlé were looking at expansion options for this site and we were asked to provide an assessment of the noise implications of doubling the size of the facility. By examining the predicted new noise levels, we could assess any changes to the impact on local residential noise sensitive receivers. Using BS4142 as a basis for the assessment and measuring noise levels from different sources on the site we were able to give an accurate prediction of future sound levels at noise sensitive residential receiver points in the local area.
We also developed a range of ideas on the mitigation of any increased noise by looking at the propagation implications of the proposed new layout and detailing some options with regard to reducing sound levels of particularly conspicuous sources. For example, recommending quieter loading bay ramp systems for goods transport vehicles.
